Friction Material: Raybestos offers ceramic, semi-metallic and hybrid brake pads. Hybrid pads offer the best of ceramic and semi-metallic all in one pad for optimal performance and durability. Ceramics are used on applications where low noise and brake dust reduction are preferred. Semi-metallics are still used across all weight and output classes and remain the only option for medium duty and up platforms.
Hardware: New hardware is important to ensure smooth movement of the pad within the caliper assembly to reduce drag, increase effectiveness, and prevent uneven wear of the pad and rotor.
Shims: Shims reduce NVH (noise, vibration and harshness). The shim attaches to the back of the brake pad to help dampen vibrations, therefore reducing noise.
